DSD Laboratories, Inc. Selected as a Prime Contractor on a $691K Payment Card Compliance Contract with USDA Forest Service
Sudbury, MA – September 22, 2015 – DSD Laboratories, Inc. announced that it was selected by the USDA Forest Service to be a prime contractor on a $691K payment card compliance contract with a period of performance of one base and four option years. Work is starting in Oct. 2015. DSD will subcontract the work to its affiliate, Backbone Security.com, Inc.
The purpose of the contract is to provide support to the USDA Forest Service Recreation One Stop program in the area of Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standards. The Recreation One Stop (R1S) program is a partnership to provide “one-stop” shopping for reservations for a wide range of recreation facilities and activities on federal lands. The Agencies participating in this program and contract are the USDA Forest Service, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the Department of Interior (DOI) agencies National Park Service (NPS), Bureau of Land Management (BLM), and Bureau of Reclamation.
The goal of the contract is to obtain Backbone Security.com assistance in assuring compliance with the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standards including but not limited to:
- Assisting R1S Point of Sale (POS) sites in successfully completing initial PCI Self-Assessment Questionnaire;
- Consolidating PCI Self Assessments from POS sites for reporting to servicing bank;
- Email notification, and other possible customer notification preferences, directly to merchants regarding 1) Advance alerts of upcoming PCI compliance expiration and 2) Immediate notification of SAQ expiration and scan and SAQ failure.
- Scheduling and performing required PCI quarterly security scans of POS sites.
Backbone Security.com will provide Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) security compliance support services for approximately 566 geographically dispersed R1S Point of Sale (POS) locations. The number of POS locations active will vary depending on the time of the year as well as the opening of additional POS locations.
